Biography

A documentary photographer born in Jakarta,has a great interest in documenting social issues. He completed a special training on photo journalism at Antara Journalistic Photo Gallery in 2000 and has attended a number of training and workshop in photography, including the one in which he was selected to join a photography workshop mentored by German photographer winning in a World Press Photo Contest, Peter Bialobrezky.

He once worked as a contributor to some national media and international photo agencies, including Worldpicturenews, a New York based photo agencies and Drik-Majority World pot agencies. Some of his works were published in several national and international media such as Majalah Djakarta, Majalah Tempo, Playboy Indonesia, Marie Claire Indonesia, National Geographic Indonesia, Smithsonian, Newsweek Japan, Grand Reportage, Science and view, France.

In 2009, his photo essay on HIV/AIDS was selected as one of the best photo essays in Tempo Mgazine version. He has been active in joining various exhibitions, including, Jakarta Art Foto Summit in National Gallery (2007), Jakarta International Photo Journalism Festival, Scapegoating The " other' in Southeast Asia in Salihara Gallery (2018).

He also took part in a variety of photo book project such as Fifty Seven Second, Politics of Citizenship in Indonesia. A side from contributing to the Domestic and Foreign Publishing, Edy Susanto also collaborated with several Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) such as the Global Environmental Facility-Small Grants Program (GEF-SGP), ICRC, Wildlife Conservation Society and also a brand ambassador of Oppo, the mobile phone telecommunications products.
